Safeguarding and child protection


At Jellytot's Nursery we are committed to ensuring the safety and welfare of all children in our care through working in partnership with parents, carers and outside agencies to ensure all children are safe from abuse and can thrive in a safe and nurturing environment.


Key Principles :


  • A child Centered Approach - Prioritising children's needs, their safety well-being and development.
  • Early Intervention - Addressing concerns promptly, early support can prevent issues from escalating and causing harm.
  • Shared Responsibility - Safeguarding is everyone,s responsibility within the nursery, staff will respond appropriately to any concerns about a child's welfare.
  • Understand vulnerabilities - be sensitive to factors such as economic circumstances ethnicity and social context that can impact children and families
  • Positive Relationships - Positive relationships with parents and carers builds trust, collaboration, open communication, joint decision making and parental education helping to identify and address safeguarding concerns early, educating parents on safeguarding policies 
  • On going Training - All staff receive safeguarding and child protection training to understand their own role and responsibilities in relation to safeguarding and child protection, to ensure they can recognize the indicators of abuse, have professional curiosity, know how to respond to a concern or disclosure of abuse, know how to report a concern or disclosure of abuse and who to report it to.

Our Safeguarding policy is underpinned by working together to safeguard child 2023, and the Early Years Foundation Stage 2024 safeguarding and welfare requirements.

Safer Recruitment


At Jellytots we follow safer recruitment practices to ensure the safeguarding of all children who attend our nursery our key principles include.


  • Safeguarding commitment through safe recruitment practices - Robust interview questions, Reference and employment history checks, ID and DBS Checks

  • Identifying unsuitable applicants - Vetting processes to identify those interview suitability
  • On going suitability assessment - Suitability is continually assessed through to the end of an employees  probation period and beyond with annual suitability declarations completed by all employees. employees have a duty to inform their employer of any changes to their suitability to work with children,  
  • Induction and child protection training
